Hospice and Palliative Care of Kodiak, Inc. (Hospice of Kodiak), a non-profit organization, is governed by an active and volunteer Board of Directors. Hospice of Kodiak’s mission is to join the journey of those facing life-threatening illness or loss, meeting needs, reducing fears and offering comfort.

Joanne Quass
Executive Director

Joanne Kirchner-Quass has lived in and out of Kodiak over the past 26 years, following her husband Tom to various locations with the US Coast Guard along with their five children.  Joanne has had the pleasure of serving the community of Kodiak as the Director of Programs for Kodiak Area Native Association and the Sun'aq Tribe. As the Respite Director for Hope Community Resources, her area of responsibility covered Kodiak to the Aleutian chain and Pribilof Islands. She has had a great deal of success in fundraising for many organizations throughout her career. Her personal relationship with Hospice is a driving factor in her decision to join the Hospice of Kodiak team.  




Domonique Ruiz
Volunteer Coodinator

Domonique Ruiz was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She moved to Kodiak in 2013 with her significant other Stuart McFarland, and 2 children Bentley, and Marilyn. She has worked with PKICC as an Administrative Assistant, and a Community Health Specialist at KANA, coordinating for both employees and clients that fell within the Health Services Department. Her long term goals include completing her education through UAS Distance Learning, forming a sustainable, Residential Treatment Facility in Kodiak, and becoming an active member of the many organizations within the community. Domonique views HoK as an impactful opportunity for herself, personally and professionally. Allowing her creativity to cater to important phases of life, Palliative Care & death. She is very humbled to live in such a strong community and serve HoK in an essential role.
